Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program Online Applications

Courtesy of Nyc.gov: Under the Section 8 program, qualified families receive a voucher from NYCHA that can be used to pay a portion of their rent to any participating landlord. To receive a Section 8 voucher, a family must meet eligibility guidelines, including qualifying in one of three emergency categories, complete an application and eligibility interview, and complete the Section 8 screening process. It is the policy of the New York City Housing Authority to provide equal housing opportunities for all qualified applicants and residents. Eligibility: NYCHA can only accept applicants who meet the Section 8 Income Limits, eligibility guidelines and who qualify under three emergency eligibility categories. Application: Candidates who meet the Section 8 eligibility criteria must complete an application to be considered for Section 8 Assistance. Screening: All Section 8 applicants are screened by NYCHA. The screening process includes a criminal background check for household members 16 and older and current and/or previous section 8 landlord contacts.
